John Paul "Pete" Barry

March 27, 1956 — June 4, 2025

Thurman, Ohio

John Paul "Pete" Barry, 69, entered Heaven at 3:57 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones overflowing the CCU Room 332 at Grant Medical Center.

There to welcome him home were his parents James and Lucille Barry, who bore him as their 6th child on March 27, 1957 in Rush, Kentucky and his Father and Mother-in-law Burnace and Lena Stout.

Left to love and miss him until reunited, are his wife of nearly 50 years Denise and son Paul (Lois) Barry of Thurman, Ohio; his grandson William "T.R."; granddaughter Haley; and his four great grandchildren Makayla, Aria, Julius, and Shade; sisters, Mandy VanBibber of Jackson, Ohio, Maggie Brewer of Patriot; brothers, William (Margie) Barry of Patriot, Ohio, Timothy Barry of Milford, Indiana, Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Richard Stout of Rio Grande, Darlene Halley, Carolyn (Walt) Loveday of Gallipolis, Ohio, Angie (AJ) Owens of Thurman, Ohio; a very special niece Jennifer Morris of Goshen, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

To Pete, everyone was "Hot Rod"; he was dearly loved by his entire family and always a favorite to his nieces and nephews, Uncle Pete was always the go-2. He either fixed your car, told you how to fix your car; gave you money to get to point A to B, or towed your car wherever you wanted. He was his siblings right hand man when a niece or nephew was going over "fools hill" and headed the wrong way. He had lived the life, made that mistake and ready to help out where he could. Pete loved working on cars, painting cars, driving cars and motorcycles, racing cars, and wrecking cars, but none compared to the love he had for his family and his Lord and Savior Jesus.

In addition to his parents; father and mother-in-law, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Harmon, Tom, Mike, and Robert Barry; his sister Linda Black; Sisters-in-law Kim Stout, Florence Barry, Marcella Morris; brother-in-laws, Bernie Stout, Leonard Morris, Gary VanBibber, Glenn Black, and James Ratliff.

The funeral service for Pete will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Cline Rawlins officiating. His burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. - 8.00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Paul Barry, Lance Halley, Michael Barry, Andrew Owens, T.R.
