Joyce E Violand

Joyce E. Violand, 79, of Crown City, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Holzer Senior Care. Joyce was born on January 31, 1939 in Gallia County, daughter of the late Frank and Norma Barcus James. She retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center and was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed Ohio State Buckeyes sports especially women’s basketball. Joyce was married to George Violand and he preceded her in death in 2004. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Leo, Marlin, Carl and Don James. Joyce is survived by a son Vance Violand of Crown City and by four grandchildren, Gina Rogers of Crown City, Nikki (Jeremy) Harrison of Pt. Pleasant, Kati (James) Caudill of Patriot, and Emily Violand of Las Vegas; eight great grandsons; one sister Charlotte Beach of Vinton, and sisters-in-law Nancy James Myers of Crown City, Nancy James of Gallipolis, and Patricia James of Gallipolis. Services will be 1 pm Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery.
