June Elaine Steger, 75, of Vandalia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton, after a long and painful physical battle. She was born on January 11, 1941 in Wellston, Ohio. June loved her family and was so proud of them. She was passionate about her Welsh heritage and adored listening to Welsh choirs and music. She was a member of Vandalia Baptist Temple, where she served in the deaf ministry over the years. June had worked for several companies, but felt the greatest joy while working as secretary of WEEC Christian Radio in Springfield. June was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Francis (Thompson) Davis. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years Charlie, daughters Robin (Keith) Pennington of Vandalia, Megan (Rick) Washburn of Vandalia, son Jason Steger of Montreal, Canada, sisters Mary (Ted) Wooten of Bidwell, Carol (Bruce) Webb of Wellston, Debbie Davis of Albany, brother John (Andrea) Davis of Chillicothe, granddaughters Angel Pennington, Rachael (Anthony) Riddle, Brianna Washburn, Monica (Isaiah) Fitch, Ericka Washburn, Sonia Washburn, Lydia Washburn, Camille Zmigrodzki, Savannah Zmigrodzki, soon-to-be-born great granddaughter Violet Rae Riddle, and many extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22 at 1 p.m. at Vandalia Baptist Temple, 724 Helke Rd., Vandalia, with Pastor Rick Washburn Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. Burial services will be held on Friday, December 23 at St. Nick Cemetery in Gallipolis, Ohio at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith Pennington officiating.
