Katherine “Kay” M. Haffelt, 93, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Holzer Medical Center. She was born on May 14, 1922 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, daughter of the late Troy and Maude Monday Fulcher. Kay was married to G. Amyl Haffelt, Sr. and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2002. She was retired from Holzer Medical Center Business Office and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Pamela (Jacky) Seal of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Justin (Leslie) Large of Woodstock, Georgia, Whitney Brooke Large of Mebane, North Carolina, Amy Haffelt of Wilmington, Ohio; a great granddaughter, Olivia Michelle Large; 6 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; her “other daughters”, Brenda Kalinchak, Rita Roush Sheets, Karla Kuhn, Jeni Robinson, and Linda Harold. In addition to her parents and husband, Amyl Haffelt Sr., Kay was preceded in death by her son, George A. Haffelt, Jr. in 2012. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Grace United Methodist Church Chapel with Bob Powell and Chaplain Fred Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery.
