Kimberle Lynnette Wigglesworth

July 3, 1959 — August 1, 2017

Gallipolis native, Kimberle Lynnette (Waugh) Wigglesworth, age 58, went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2017, following a very brief battle with breast cancer at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University where she was surrounded by her family and friends. Kim was born in Gallipolis, OH, July 3, 1959 to the late Calvin W. and Lenice (Jeffers) Waugh. While a student at Gallia Academy High School, she met Michael (Mike) Stephen Wigglesworth in her homeroom class. They became high school sweethearts and were married in Gallipolis December 18, 1982. Together, Mike and Kim were doting parents to one daughter, Taylor Marie Wigglesworth. In addition, Kim helped care for her parents for 15 years until her mother’s passing in April. Kim dedicated her life to music. For more than 35 years, Kim was a high school and church music choral conductor. While a beloved teacher to literally thousands of students, she earned the nickname “Wiggs.” During her career, Kim taught in Marietta, Granville, and Newark City School Districts. Most recently she taught with Mike, who serves as Newark’s Assistant Choral Director. She loved her students as an extension of her family and was tirelessly dedicated to their success as both musicians and young adults. Her work with Newark’s Call to College program emphasized her desire to ensure that all students had access to opportunities in higher education regardless of their academic paths. Kim earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Capital University and her Masters of Arts from The Ohio State University, where she completed requirements for her doctorate except her dissertation. Kim was a member of Central College Presbyterian Church in Westerville, OH. Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Mike Wigglesworth of Newark, OH, daughter Taylor Marie Wigglesworth also of Newark, sister Kala Sue (Waugh) Bush of Upper Arlington, OH, nieces Dr. Abra K. Bush of Baltimore, MD, Larae C. (Jeffrey) Schraeder of Upper Arlington, OH, and thousands of beloved, former students. Calling hours from 1-3 pm on Saturday, August 5, and funeral services at 3 pm at First Baptist Church, 1100 Fourth Avenue, Gallipolis, OH. Burial at Mound Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests scholarship donations in her memory to Newark High School Choir Boosters, Inc., a 503(c) organization, P.O. Box 4453 Newark, OH 43058-4453.
