  2. February 6, 1951 - August 3, 2025

Larry Michael Evans, 74, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 6, 1951, in Nelsonville, Ohio, Larry lived a life marked by service, love, and quiet strength. A proud graduate of Nelsonville High School, he went on to earn an associate degree in Police Science from Hocking College. Driven by a calling to protect and serve, he joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy as part of Class #96 and spent the next 26 years faithfully serving his community. After retiring from the patrol, Larry continued to dedicate himself to helping others, working for nearly a decade as a Youth Specialist with the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

He found joy in the simple things - woodworking, playing guitar, and peaceful days fishing on his bass boat - often with his beloved wife and best friend, Melissa “Missy” Evans, by his side. A devoted husband and father, Larry’s greatest pride was his family, and his life was a constant testament to love, loyalty, and strength.

Larry had a special bond with animals, especially St. Bernards. Over the years, he cared for six, three of whom were rescued senior females he gave a second chance at life. His compassion for animals reflected the depth of his character - gentle and generous. Larry and his family were also early members of Elizabeth Chapel Church and firm believers in God.

He is survived by his loving wife, Missy Evans of Gallipolis; his children, Joshua Evans and Kari Evans; his brother Wayne (Carol) Evans; and nieces and nephews: Cliff Evener, Chris Evans, Todd Evans, and Nicole Evener. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Norma Jean Withem Evans; his brother Bruce “Boo” Evans; and his sister Sheryl Marie Evans.

Per his wishes, Larry will be honored with a private family celebration. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to an animal rescue organization of your choice.

Larry’s love, wisdom, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
