Larry L. Long

Larry L. Long, 76, of Gallipolis, OH, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 13, 1949, he was the son of the late Reuben and Margaret Long. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Phil Lee, Charles Lee, and Samuel Long, as well as his cherished granddaughter, Kaylee Grace Long, with whom he has now reunited in Heaven.

Larry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Cathy who he referred to as (“My Cath”), and his siblings, Ella Hutchins of Toledo and Ralph Jones of Chillicothe. His children include Lisa (John) Kearns of Gallipolis, Lori (Ken) Owens of Gallipolis, Laura (Tony) Ireland of Jackson, Kevin (Laura) Martin of Crown City, and Larry II (Angie) Long of Bidwell. He also leaves behind grandchildren Derek (Lara) Hogan, Cassandra (Andre’) Walker, Jessica Kearns, Caleb and Luke Owens, Savannah and Sydney Ireland, Illyana Dulaney, Hunter and Samantha Martin, Kaylee Furrow, and Kenzie and Josh Long. His great-grandchildren include Connor Utt, Evelyn Walker, Declan and Nora Hogan, Allie, Kristopher, Aleeah, and Pyper Kearns, and Miller Martin.

A proud graduate of Gallia Academy High School, Class of 1967, Larry enjoyed a successful career in the building materials industry, retiring from Odell Lumber, where he created lasting friendships, including many within the Amish Community.

Larry was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and served as a longtime member and Deacon of Addison Freewill Baptist Church. He held his church family dear and found great joy in singing in the choir. His greatest pleasures in life were the moments spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Addison Freewill Baptist Church, with calling hours from 11 AM to 1 PM, followed by a service at 1 PM. Pastor Matt Smith and Jamie Fortner will officiate. Pallbearers will include Derek Hogan, John Kearns, Ken Owens, Caleb Owens, Luke Owens, Tony Ireland, Josh Long, Kevin Martin, and Andre´ Walker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Addison Freewill Baptist Church in support of their ministry in memory of Larry Long.
