Larry Dean Saunders

Larry Dean Saunders, 69, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025 at Arbors at Gallipolis after a long illness.

Larry was born December 1, 1955, in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Roy T. and Ruth Wilcoxon Saunders. He was a 1973 graduate of Gallia Academy High School, where he played first chair trumpet in the marching band. Larry continued his education at Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources in 1977.

Over the course of his life, Larry held positions at Southern Ohio Coal (Meigs mine), in the oil industry at Lake Charles, LA, the Lake Erie fish hatchery, and worked at various other jobs. He liked spending time with animals, was devoted to his Christian faith, and enjoyed sharing the gospel with others.

Larry is survived by his brother, Keith R. (Brenda) Saunders; two sisters, Sheri (Larry) Sayre and Karen Saunders; two nephews, Tyler Sayre and Alex Rudolf; and many extended family members.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Arbors for Larry’s care. Graveside services will be held at Centenary Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 with Pastor Heath Jenkins officiating.
