Lee Ann Baker

June 14, 1958 — July 25, 2025

Gallipolis

Lee Ann Baker, 67, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away at her residence on July 25, 2025 surrounded by love.

Lee was born on June 14, 1958 to the late Carl Lewis Baker and Gladys Janet Meadows. She married Larry Haas, who preceded her in death in 2021.

A lifelong nurturer, she worked as a registered nurse for 19 years at St Mary's hospital, and for another 10 years at Holzer Hospital. Her passion for learning and service was recognized with an Academic Achievement Award from her nursing school and an Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Ohio Council on Vocational Education. In 1989, she was honored by the American Cancer Society as a Nurse of Hope, a reflection of her deep compassion and advocacy for those facing illness. She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Gallipolis 238. Beyond her career, she found joy in life's gentler moments- tending to her plants, losing herself in the pages of a good book, and filling her home with music. She was a published poet, and rightfully proud of her work and the words she shared with the world.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Baker of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Charles (Odelia) Baker of Hilliard, Ohio; honorary brother, Mario Barcelli; an aunt, Rosalee Mitchell; a very special cousin, Deb Shelton; cousins Tony Wiehr, Clinton Shelton, Lauren Shelton, and Brock Shelton; and a nephew, Robert Sigfried.

In accordance with Lee's and the family's wishes, no services will be held at this time. Interment will occur at a later date in Salem Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers to be sent to the family, and in honor of Lee's spirit, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Billy Two Shoes.
