LeGrande Martin, 88, of Gallipolis, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1927 in Cheshire, Ohio, son of the late John A. and Isabelle Brechtel Martin. LeGrande graduated from Cheshire High School in 1945. He worked on New York Central Railroad at Hobson, Ohio for 10 years and retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, WV after 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. LeGrande was an avid sports fan especially Gallia Academy (all sports), Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed working puzzles, watching television, and also played fast pitch softball for Cheshire and Gallipolis. Surviving are his son, Daryl (Ruth) Martin of Gallipolis; two daughters, Elizabeth (Gary) Altizer of Thurman and Mary Belle (Greg) Maynard of Gallipolis; grandchildren, Lindsay (Brian) Stowe of Belmont, NC, Tyler (Jessica) Martin, Michaela Martin, both of Gallipolis, and Kristi (Zach) Weber of Pomeroy; three great grandchildren, Brayden Martin, Bryant Martin, Anson Stow; and a cousin, Katie (Paul) Shoemaker of Cheshire. LeGrande was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John Luther Martin. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will be in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
