Linda F. Shamblin, 59, of Charleston, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 7, 2007, after a courageous, year long battle with brain cancer. She was a loving and devoted companion, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She lived life to the fullest enjoying cruises, drag racing, shopping and especially trips to the beach or mountains with her family. She always had a smile on her face and a welcome for everyone. Linda was born on March 27, 1948 in Logan County, West Virginia, daughter of John S. Dillard, who survives her and the late Edith Trent Dillard. She was a former Sam’s Club employee for 17 years in Charleston and a former manager of One Stop Convenient Store in South Charleston, West Virginia. Surviving are her loving companion, Dana G. Slater of Charleston, WV; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri L. and M. Todd Pauley of Winfield, WV, Deborah R. and J. Scott Lane of St. Albans, WV and a daughter, Kimberly A. Shamblin of St. Albans, WV; four grandchildren, Corey and Jacob Lane, Megan Shamblin and Miranda Pauley; her father, John S. Dillard of Gallipolis; sisters and brothers, Sandra and James Gillispie of Kenna, WV, Donna Sue Barrick, Nina Bias, Marsha and Jim Ward, John and Tammy Dillard and Terry Dillard, all of Gallipolis, Ohio. In addition, she is survived by her ex-husband, the father of her children, William T. Shamblin. She will be sorely missed by her many nieces and nephews as well as the many wonderful friends whom she loved and adored. Linda was blessed and a blessing to all who were in her life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith M. Dillard, infant brother, Jerry Dillard and grandson, Benjamin Parker Lane. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Maddy Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Neola Joseph, Michelle Lacy and the rest of the professionals from Dunbar Hospice who helped the family through this difficult time.
