Lula (Lou) Mae (Johnson) Henry, 93, of Dallas, North Carolina, formerly of Crown City, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at TerraBella Assisted Living in Lincolnton, North Carolina. She was born May 14, 1932 in Gallia County, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles R. and Freda Lambert Johnson.
In 1957, she moved to South Florida with her husband John Henry, Jr. She worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell and was a loving homemaker. She later joined her husband’s truck and marine refrigeration business as an accountant. In 2005, she and her husband moved to Dallas, North Carolina. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2012. She treasured time with her family and enjoyed spending time in nature, gardening, cooking, crafting, and solving jigsaw puzzles.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela (Tony) Giarla of Clemmons, North Carolina; son, John H. (Tracie) Henry of Dallas, North Carolina; son-in-law, Ron Ferguson of Loganville, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Greg Ellis, Jessica (Michael) Hope, Michael Ferguson, Sarah (Michael) Kuhn, Daniel Mulligan, Christopher (Susannah) Henry, and Chad (Celsea) Henry; nine great grandchildren, Courtney, Sidney, J.B., Macey, Owen, Mikie, Kylee, Patrick, and Brayden; and one sister, Gloria Evans of Gallipolis. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lula was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Ferguson two weeks prior; two brothers, Bob Johnson and Bill Johnson; three sisters, Loretta Swain, Inez Stocker and Agnes Frazee; a great-grandson, Ryan; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Stella Stover Henry.
The funeral service for Lula Henry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Carnes officiating. Her burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service. The family welcomes flowers; or, if you prefer, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart.
