Margaret Thornton

Margaret Thornton, 84, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center. She was born April 30, 1930 in McConnell, West Virginia, Logan County, daughter of the late Robert S. and Eva McKinney Aldredge. Margaret was married to Clifford R. Thornton on July 20, 1955 in Richmond, Indiana and he survives her. She was a 1948 graduate of Gallia Academy High School, a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Clifford “Cliff” Thornton of Gallipolis; a son, Eric (Sarah) Thornton of Vinton; and two grandsons, Kaden Thornton and Kolton Thornton. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, SSG Kevin R. Thornton on April 25, 2008, four sisters and one brother. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alvis Pollard and Dr. Fred Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral.
