Mark G. Gay, 80, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born on November 8, 1928 in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Dewey D. and Betty Needham Gay. Mark was a retired lineman for Buckeye Rural Electric, a Korean War U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Rio Grande. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 4464 where he had been a past commander. Mark also enjoyed gardening. Mark was married to Betty Zane Barnett Gay and she preceded him in death on June 2, 1998. He is survived by a daughter Barbara Darrell Marcum of Thurman, Ohio and by a son Mark A. Patricia Gay of Gallipolis,; 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren; a sister Dewetta Gay of Gallipolis, a brother David Gay of Fostoria, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and Beatrice Gay his mother who raised him; three sisters, Eva Mae Nance, Susie Ash, and Mary Childers, two brothers Paul Gay and Dewey Gay, Jr. in infancy. Services will be 1 pm Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Willis Funeral Home, with Pastor Marc Sarrett officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Tuesday January 27, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Willis Funeral Home. There will be full military rites given at the cemetery by volunteers of area veteran lodges.
