Mary Elizabeth Lewis, 84, of Patriot, passed away quietly on Friday, October 23, 2015 at her home. She was born and raised in Eureka, Ohio on February 21, 1931, daughter of the late Rush and Martha McLaughlin James. Mary attended Eureka Methodist Church and later Elizabeth Chapel Church. She worked at G.C. Murphy’s then gave 20 years of service at Bob Evans Steakhouse and Restaurant. She was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary married Dan R. Lewis on June 17, 1948 in Greenup, Kentucky and he survives her. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Dianne (Randy) Whitley of Dayton and Melanie Jill Collins of Patriot; three sons, James D. (Nancy) Lewis of Gallipolis, Jon D. (Teresa) Lewis of Crown City, and Tom J. (Angela) Lewis of Patriot; five grandchildren, Courtney (Scott) Cummons of Crown City, Tiffany (Charlie) Fourspring of Gallipolis, Joshua T. Lewis, Nikolas C. Collins, Jonathon T. Collins, all of Patriot; two great grandchildren, Sadie Cummons and Rush Cummons, both of Crown City; three brothers, Roger (Rose) James of Crown City, Russell James and Richard (Mary) James, both of Gallipolis; and one sister, Virginia (Bill) McKinney of Gallipolis. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Ann James and Daisy Sims, one brother, Charles F. James and one sister-in-law, Virginia L. James. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Ridgelawn Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating.
