Merrill Emerson Hively, 86, of Patriot, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Holzer Senior Care Center. He was born on September 28, 1920 in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Demspey and Dora Cotton Hively. He was a retired bus driver for the Gallia County Local Schools and a farmer. Merrill was married to Flora Stanley Hively for 46 years and she preceded him in death in 1987. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are two sons, James Wanda Hively and Keith Hively, both of Patriot; three grandchildren, Chris Hively of Patriot, Brad Armanda Hively of Higginsport, OH, Tina Alex Haught of Friendly, WV; five great grandchildren, Alex, Jr. and Abigail Haught, Kala, Krystal and Leanne Hively. Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Flora Hively, a brother, Vanus Hively and a sister, Evadene Lambert. Services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor David Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Flag Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service. Full military services will be provided by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges. Pallbearers will be Brad Hively, Alex Haught, Alex Haught Jr., Robert Pace, Billy Stanley and Mark Stanley.
