Merrill S. Waugh, 91, of Crown City, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born January 31, 1920 in Ohio Township (Waugh Bottom), Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Homer Sr. and Lula Simms Waugh. He married Marry Emma (Bailey) Waugh on October 5, 1946 at Catlettsburg, Kentucky. Merrill was a tobacco farmer and retired from the Gallia County School District as a School Bus Driver. He attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Merrill enjoyed tractor pulls and blue grass music. Surviving are his wife, Mary Emma Waugh of Crown City; his children, Judy (Cliff) Wolfe of Gallipolis, Charles Waugh, Richard (Sue) Waugh, and James (Rose) Waugh, all of Crown City and a stepson, Scott (Judy) Bailey of Eureka, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Mark Chevalier, Nathan Waugh, Mike Waugh, Rachael Chambers, Tiffany Waugh, Jay Waugh, Alan Bailey, and Phil Bailey; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Waugh of Gallipolis and Carl (Emily) Waugh of Rodney; a sister, Jewell Steel of Point Pleasant, WV; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Waugh of Columbus, Ohio. Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Homer Waugh Jr., a sister and brother as infants and a brother-in-law Gene Steel. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
