Michael Shane Rakes Walters

Michael Shane Rakes Walters, 28, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Born on October 1, 1997 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Michael was the son of June Wright and Daniel Wright. As a father, brother, son, grandson, and nephew, Michael loved his family. He also loved riding bikes, building anything, gardening, watching WWE or Smackdown, and listening to rock music blaring over the speakers. Michael adored his sweet dog, Simon.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Catalina Walters (Rachel E. Rote); parents, June and Daniel Wright; several siblings, nephews, and nieces, Tabitha Cremeans (BJ, Jacob, William, and Destiny), Dustin Pearson (Megan), Danielle Wright (Maliki), and Devin Rakes; several uncles, Joe Walters, Tony Walters, and Sam Walters; several cousins; and grandmother, Linda Bice. Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Walters.

The family would like to express a thank you to OSU James Cancer Center for years of care, a thank you to Willis Funeral Home for assisting with funeral arrangements, and a special thank you to Tamara Rote and Diane and Charles Smith for all their love and support.

A Graveside Service will be held for Michael at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Centenary Cemetery with Pastor James Patrick officiating.
