Mildred Barlow Sisson

Mildred Barlow Sisson, 84, of Patriot, Ohio went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Born December 5, 1934 in Gallia County, Ohio, Mildred was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Loris Martin Barlow. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Sisson in 1963; sister-in-law, Joy Barlow in 1991; and brother, Donnie Barlow in 2017. Mildred is survived by a sister, Karen (Wendell) Brumfield of Gallipolis; sister-in-law, Peggy Barlow of Patriot; niece, Sandra Brumfield; nephew, James (Nina) Brumfield; and great nephews, Cody Brumfield and Dylan Brumfield. Mildred was employed at G.C. Murphy Co. for 37 years. She loved to go to church and revivals, as well as gospel sings. Mildred loved to go to various churches, but her home church was Dickey Chapel. She enjoyed doing things for children, especially those who were less fortunate. Mildred made over 3000 dresses and sent to children in an orphanage in Haiti, as well as other parts of the world. As a result of her efforts, Ruby Shockley and WSAZ TV nominated Mildred as Hometown Hero in 2004. Mildred loved the outdoors and her animals, especially her dogs and cows. She did many farm projects, and she was selected “Farm Woman of the Year” in 2002 by the Gallia Soil and Water Conservation District. The funeral service for Mildred Sisson will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley and Pastor Donnie Massie officiating.
