Montgomery E. "Monty" Elliott, 61, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at his residence. Monty was born on June 19, 1964 in Gallipolis, Ohio, son of the late Emmett "Red" Elliott and Eleanor Montgomery Elliott who survives him in Gallipolis, Ohio.
Monty was a graduate of Kyger Creek High School and Buckeye Hills Career Center. Monty had worked for McDonalds for 19 years and retired with 25 years of service with Gallia County Rural Water; he was most recently employed by Holzer Health System. He loved riding his Harley, hunting, bowling, and golfing. Monty was a member of the Middleport Masonic Lodge #363, the Gallia County Gun Club, and the Gallipolis Harley Owners Group.
Monty is survived by his wife, Debbie Shaw Elliott of Gallipolis; sons, David (Brandy) Kirby of Vinton, Ohio, Steven (Amanda) Kirby of Oak Hill, Ohio, and Elias (Kayla) Elliott of Gallipolis, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Keala, Kyler, Kaden, Hudson, Sutton, Camryn, Griffin, Braiden, Brinlee, and Brylee; mother, Eleanor Elliott of Gallipolis; one brother, Chris (Teresa) Elliott of Gallipolis; niece, Nichole (Denny) Dodrill of Vinton; nephew, Jonathon (Megan) Elliott of Gallipolis; great nieces and great nephews, Brynna, Harley, Layken, Kylee, and Noah; father-in-law, Bob Shaw of Rio Grande, Ohio; sister-in-law, Sheryl (Tony) Frye; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Sherri) Shaw and Jeff (Angie) Shaw; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his father Emmett, Monty was preceded in death by a great nephew, Levi Dodrill and a brother-in-law, Kevin Dobbins.
The funeral service for Monty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Gruber officiating. His burial will follow in Rife Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. There will be a Masonic Service on Friday at 8:00 p.m. by the Middleport Masonic Lodge at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Kirby, Steven Kirby, Elias Elliott, Jonathon Elliott, Phil Pope, and Tim Lewis; honorary pallbearers will be Griffin Kirby and Braiden Elliott.
