N. Kathryn "Katie" Massie

N. Kathryn “Katie” Massie, 81 of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. She was born June 6, 1934 in her home on Lincoln Pike, Gallia County, daughter of the late Walter F. and Beatrice Ruth Rose Elliott. Katie attended Clay Lick Grade School and graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1952. She married Noel F. Massie on July 12, 1953 at First Baptist Church, Gallipolis. Katie worked for Evans Grocery, Thorofare, Pennyfare Markets and Ohio Valley Bank. She was a bookkeeper and assistant treasurer of the Gallia County Junior Fair from 1980 to the present. She was a 4-H Member and Advisor for several years. Katie was a member of the Northup Baptist Church and attended Church and Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Gallipolis. She was a 50 year member and a Past Worthy Matron of Waterloo Order of the Eastern Star #447, a member of Centenary Grange and served as Secretary, a member of the Wrinkle Club since 2003, and an election poll worker. She was one of the founding donors to the Gallia County Junior Fair Foundation. Katie enjoyed cooking, having family in, traveling, and decorating for the holidays. Surviving are her husband, Noel F. Massie, of Gallipolis; two sons, Tim (Pam) Massie of Gallipolis and Rob (Connie) Massie of Bidwell; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Massie of Coshocton, Jeff (Kacy) Massie of Aberdeen, Erica (Nate) Preston, Heath (Mallory) Massie, Adam (Erica) Massie, all of Bidwell, Travis (Nicole) Massie of Patriot; 10 great grandchildren, Luke, Layton and Laramie Massie of Coshocton, Benson Massie of Aberdeen, Brooke Preston, Amelia and Gretta Massie of Bidwell, Marla Massie of Patriot, Payton and Wyatt Massie of Bidwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister in 1984, Ruth Elliott Brown. Services will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Katie’s memory to the Gallia County Jr. Fair Long Range Improvement Plan or the Gallia County Junior Fair Foundation.
