Nancy L. Rainey

Nancy L. Rainey, 83, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Holzer Medical Center after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 8, 1931 in Gallia County, daughter of the late Hetsel Arthur and Nellie Harrison Russell. Nancy married Leonard R. Rainey and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2007. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, bird watching and her family. She was a member of the River of Life United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Paula (Joshua) DeWeese of Duluth, Georgia; six grandchildren, Kara (John) Allen, Katie (Jeremy) Adams, Adam (Tiffany) Rainey, Jackson DeWeese, Robbie (Melissa) Beaton, and Stephanie Mehring; nine great grandchildren, Jacob Allen, Aaron Allen, Gracie Allen, Maxwell Adkins, Elliott Adkins, Emma Adkins, Isaac, Aaron and Michelle Rainey; daughter-in-law: Diana (Ken) Beaton of Shelbyville, Kentucky; a brother, Jack Russell of Gallipolis; a niece and caregiver, Angela St. Clair; a niece, Deanna Powell; great nieces who helped with her care, Sydney, Savannah, and Chloe; several other special family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, Leonard R. Rainey, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul L. Rainey in 1985. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Reynolds Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Adam Rainey, Robbie Beaton, Robert St. Clair, John Allen, Jeremy Powell and Ken Beaton. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Nancy’s memory to Holzer Center for Cancer Care, 170 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, OH 45631.
