Odella Miller Kerns, age 100, of Waynesville, Ohio and formerly of Gallipolis and Grove City died on November 16, 2017. Odella was born in Walnut Township, Gallia County, Ohio on January 1, 1917 to August and Mae Miller. She married Paul Kerns on March 3, 1941. She graduated from and played basketball at Cadmus high School and later attended Portsmouth School of Business. She retired from Holzer Hospital and Clinic, was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church until she moved to Grove City and joined Bethel Lutheran Church, Grove City, Ohio. She was a loving grandmother who generously sewed and crocheted beautiful clothes for her grandchildren. She always wanted to be on the move to go places and to talk to people. Her family enjoyed her baking skills especially when she offered pies. Many will miss her. The family thanks Quaker Heights Care Community, Waynesville, OH and Crossroads Hospice for their care of Odella. She is survived by her son Michael (Joyce) Kerns, Memphis, Tennessee; her daughter-in-law Angie Kerns of Waynesville; her sister, Eulah Brown of Gallipolis; five grandchildren Joshua (Lori) Kerns of Summerville, SC; Tirzah (Bo) Rhodes of Memphis, TN; Katie Kerns, Memphis, TN; Benjamin (Esther) Kerns of Pooler, GA; Andrew Kerns of Columbus, OH and six great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Kerns in 1986; her son John Paul Kerns in 2016 and her brother Clayton Miller in 1992. Following a private burial, a memorial will be held at Willis Funeral Home, Gallipolis, Ohio at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 20, 2017.
