Okey (Big) Martin, 91, of Gallipolis passed away July 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Born December 16, 1926 in Ohio Township, Gallia County, Okey was the son of the late Randall and Margaret Workman Martin. He was a farmer and a retired carpenter. Okey was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country. Okey married Irene Caldwell Martin in Pomeroy, Ohio on April 9, 1948, and she survives him. To this union were born eight children. He is survived by four sons, Dean (Kathy) Martin, Dallas (Mary Ann) Martin, Rick (Molly) Martin all of Gallipolis, and Donald (Robin) Martin of Bidwell; three daughters, Darlene (Randy) Cox, Diana (Gary) Johnson, and Delorse Martin all of Gallipolis. In addition to his mother and father, Okey was preceded in death by one son, Okey Eugene Martin on December 1, 1951. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, including his twin, Oda Martin, Charles (Pete) Martin, Robert Martin, Floyd (Sammy) Martin, Bernie Martin, and Othal Martin; six sisters, Edith Fuller, Grace Johnson, Bertha Conley, Edna Nichols, Flossie Stewart, and Louise Wyatt; granddaughter, Judy Lee Johnson; and two daughters-in-law, Linda Martin and Sharon Martin. Okey is survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Morgan McKinniss officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
