Opal Collins

Opal Collins, 91, of Patriot, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Holzer Medical Center. Opal was born June 16, 1926 in Knott County, Kentucky, daughter of the late John and Ida Noble Amburgy. She was married to Oscar Collins and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1995. Opal was a member of Henderson Church of Christ and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her daughter, Denise (Lorenzo) Martinez of Sellersburg, IN; her sons, Larry G. Collins of Patriot and Gary L. (Michelle) Collins of Greenville, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Mark, Matt, Angela, Gary Lee, Careea, Powers, and Bruce; five great grandchildren; a brother, Oscar J. (Sue) Amburgy of Hindman, Kentucky; a sister, Geraldine Ghent of Johnson City, Tennessee; and friends of the family, Ann Botkin, Billy, Melissa and Dakota Myers and John Birchfield, all of Gallia County. In addition to her parents and husband, Opal was preceded in death by brothers, Willis Amburgy and Guy Amburgy, and five sisters, Violet, Alta, Burnette, Tilda May and Edna. Services will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
