Paul E. Butler

Paul E. Butler, Sr., 82, of Crown City, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at his residence. Paul was born in Crown City on November 9, 1924. He was the son of the late K.H. and Margaret Butler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Oleta Wood, a daughter-in-law, Ann Butler and a grandson, Kent Butler. Paul was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and he served on the Gallia County Jr. Fair Board for 18 years. He also served on the boards of the Gallia County Soil and Water Conservation Association, Farm Bureau, Tobacco Association, and the Gallia County Health Department. Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Bush Butler of Crown City; a son, Paul “Ed” Butler, Jr. of Crown City; two daughters, Carolyn Bob Haner and Paula Earnie Metzger, both of Gallipolis; grandchildren, Jason Bryna Butler and their children, Justin and Reece of Crown City, Jencie Nate Swindler of Fayetteville, NC, Chris Saunders of Ft. Collins, CO and Scott Saunders of Gallipolis; a sister, Eloise Mills of Crown City; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert B. and Sara Bush of Gallipolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Willis Funeral Home with Robert Powell and Pastor Kandy Nuce officiating. Interment will follow in Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mike Bostic, Donnie Ours, Gene Angel, Paul Shoemaker, Jason Butler and Scott Saunders. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Paul’s memory to the Gallia County Relay for Life, Christ United Methodist Church or Holzer Hospice.
