Pauline M. “Shafer” Watson, 88, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, which would have been their 71st wedding anniversary. Pauline was born February 3, 1927 to the late Verdie “Kreger” and Alva E. Shafer in Lawrence County, Ohio. Pauline was a homemaker who worked on the farm by her husband, helped with crops and cattle, loved to work with flowers and the garden and did lots of canning for winter use. Also, she retired from Holzer Medical Center as an aide where she worked for 15 years. She also loved to travel. Pauline was a member of Okey Chapel Church. Pauline and Harold Watson were married December 2, 1944. Pauline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother to her family and all that knew her. She will be missed very much. In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Watson, a brother Emil Shafer and a nephew Roger Shafer. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Gaye Watson Massie of Gallipolis and Dorothy Louise Watson Evans Hunt of Logan, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Phillip Massie, (Celeste Harrington) of Gallipolis, David Massie (Diana Harless) of Blacklick, Ohio, Elizabeth Ann Massie of Patriot, Eric S. (Lisa) Evans of Smyrna, Tennessee, Karen R. Evans (Nicholas Meade) of Logan, Ohio; one step grandchild, Matthew (Ashley) Hunt of Lancaster, Ohio; great grandchildren, Dylan, Hayden, Jack, Boston, Jillian, Jonathan, Justin, Jayna, Jeffery, Kristin, Justin, Micaela, Kaitlyn and Christopher; great great grandchildren, Owen, Ayvah, Zayden, Issabella, Blake; one sister, Vera Ann (Paskel) Dillon of Willowwood, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Margaret Shafer of Scottown, Ohio; three nieces and one nephew; and several cousins. Services will be 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral. Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
