Peggy Evans, 83, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Holzer Senior Care. She was born on September 6, 1933 in Mount Vernon, Ohio, daughter of the late Harold and Caroline Tulloss Black. She was a co-founder of PJ’s Clothing store in Gallipolis and also retired from the First Presbyterian Church as their secretary. Peggy helped establish the French Art Colony and was a member of the Philomathean Club. She loved playing Bridge and was a 1951 G.A.H.S. graduate. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, and by a son Jay K. Evans. She was formerly married to the late Merrill Evans. She is survived by a daughter Jodie (John) Davis and a son Alan (Bamba Bragg) Evans both of Gallipolis, a daughter-in-law Terri Evans Moore of Point Pleasant, and by five grandchildren, Clint Davis and his wife Kelly Davis, Seth Davis, Dr. Emily Evans-Hoeker and her husband Greg Hoeker, Chris Evans, and Kelli Evans; six great grandchildren, Kyler and Kason Davis, Zach Hemby, Eva and Elias Hoeker, and Savannah Dyer; one sister Eleanor (Bruce) Heister of Palo Alto, CA, and a niece Megan Heister. Services will be 11 am Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church with Ann Moody officiating. There will be a reception following the service at the church where the family can be greeted. The family thanks Holzer Senior Care and Holzer Hospice for their care.
