Rachel B. Carpenter

Rachel B. Carpenter, 89, of Patriot, Ohio, passed away on November 26, 2017. For a number of years, she battled with CHF, and then infection set in and she went to be with her Redeemer. She was born June 16, 1928 in Manheim, Pennsylvania, and lived 89 years, 5 months and 10 days. Rachel is survived by her husband of 65 years, Sterling Carpenter of Patriot, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Susie (Becker) Wenger, 3 sisters and 1 brother, 2 sons, Marvin Ray and Nelson Lee and 1 daughter Esther (Darvin) Yoder. She is survived by 1 brother Ralph Wenger of Lancaster, PA. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their 4 children, Dennis (Ruth) Carpenter, Cataldo, ID, Lester (Janice) Carpenter, Shoals, IN, Marie (Darwin) Bear, Patriot, OH, Philip (Joyce) Carpenter, Malino, FL. They have 29 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Valley View Mennonite Church, Patriot, OH. The visitation is to be held at Valley View Mennonite Church on Thursday, November 30, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral is to be held at Gallipolis Christian Church on Friday, December 1 at 10:00 a.m. She is to be buried at the Valley View Mennonite Church Cemetery, Patriot, OH. Willis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
