Raymond G. Ferguson, 90, of Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his residence in Gallipolis. He was born March 29, 1927 in Barboursville, West Virginia, son of the late Ostie and Nellie Sheppard Ferguson. Raymond was married to Janet I. “Peggy” Cox, who preceded him in death on March 15, 2010. He retired after thirty plus years as the last titled butcher for the state of Ohio at the Gallipolis Developmental Center. Raymond was a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country in the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the American Legion. Surviving are his daughters, Brenda Snyder of Gallipolis and Suzie (Ronald) Love of Letart, West Virginia; grandchildren, William Snyder and Scott Snyder of Gallipolis, Chad Cox of Wilkesville, and Missy (Bryan) Johnson of Huntington, West Virginia; several great grandchildren; sister, Wanda Workman of Bidwell; brothers, Dewey Ferguson and Jennings (Freda) Ferguson of Gallipolis; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend to the Ferguson family, Jennifer Cox of Bidwell. In addition to his parents and wife, Raymond was preceded in death by brothers, William Jack Ferguson, Forrest Ferguson, and Wayland Terry Ferguson; brother-in-law, Alfred Workman; and sister- in-law, Rosemary Ferguson. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Entombment will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens Chapel of Hope Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Willis Funeral Home. There will be full military services at the graveside by Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.
