Retha Naomi Beman

Retha Naomi Beman, 93, of Thurman, Ohio passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Holzer Medical Center. Born on December 24, 1924 in Gallia County, Ohio, Naomi was the daughter of the late Alva and Vilona Sheets Fellure. In 1943, Naomi graduated from Gallia Academy High School. On June 30, 1944, Naomi married Fred S. Beman, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Thurman United Methodist Church. Naomi served on the Ohio Methodist Women’s Society Conference as treasurer and the Methodist Women’s Society District for many years, holding various offices. She was a school treasurer for Southwestern Local- Gallia County Local Schools and retired from Buckeye Hills Vocational School. Naomi served her community as a member of the Centerville Town Council and the Gallia County Health Board. Naomi is survived by two daughters, Joan R. Beman of Thurman and Janet (Larry) Stephens of Vinton; daughter-in-law, Susan Beman; grandsons, Charles Richard (Jessica) Stephens of Scottown, Ohio and Michael G. (Lindsay) Stephens of Bidwell; step granddaughter, Jamie (Dusty) Fisher of Gallipolis; great grandsons, Tyler Stephens, Tate Stephens, and Tanner Stephens; step great grandson, Gage Wilson; step great granddaughter, Tayler Fisher; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Fred, Naomi was preceded in death by her son, Charles Beman; brothers, Irvin Fellure and Garrett Fellure; and sisters, Edith Saunders, Jewell Rice, Lillie Stover, Hazel Fellure, Virgie Houck, and Erma West. The funeral service for Naomi will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Thurman United Methodist Church with Pastor John Rozewicz officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service in Hill Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the church.
