Richard D. “Dick” Thomas Sr., 81, of Scottown, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Arbors at Gallipolis. He was born March 28, 1933 in Mason County, West Virginia, son of the late Roy and Iva Denny Thomas. Dick was married to Betty Stumbo on August 26, 1983 and she survives him. He was a U.S. Marine serving in Korea. He was a 1st Mate on a riverboat for the Ohio River Company/Midland Enterprises. Surviving are his wife, Betty Thomas of Scottown; one daughter, Cindy (Roger) Campbell of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia; two sons, Richard Dale Jr. (Butch) Thomas of Lake Jackson, Texas and Christopher (Michelle) Thomas of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a stepson, Brian (Renee) Williams of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Brittnee Laija, Sarah Ruckstuhl, Ashley Thomas, Bethanie Thomas, Jonathan Thomas; four step grandchildren, Ashlie Wellman, Bre Lassetter, Brian Williams Jr., Terra Williams; three great grandchildren; one step great grandson; and one sister, Phyllis Jean Meadows of Buchannon, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st grandchild, Craig Lee Campbell in 1986, a stepdaughter, Terri Daniels, a step great granddaughter, Ava Lassetter, and several brothers and sisters. Services will be 7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Turley and Rev. Trent Carpenter officiating. Friends may call from 6-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. A military service at the funeral home will be conducted by the Gallia County Funeral Detail.
