Robert A. Slagle

Robert A. Slagle, 85, of Crown City, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at his home after an extended illness. Born May 23, 1920 in Youngstown, he was the son of Joseph R. and Mabel M. Slagle. Mr. Slagle retired from Crown City Mining, was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Luginger Bowman Slagle of Crown City; a daughter, JoAnn Clifford Stapleton of Crown City; three grandchildren, Janet Roger Saunders of Northup, Donna John Bevan and Donald Melissa VanScoy, both of Crown City; and four great grandchildren, Kirstie Bertam, Dylan Saunders, Breeanna Bevan and Caitlyn VanScoy. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Services will be Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Voss officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. There will be a military flag presentation at the cemetery by volunteers of area veteran’s lodges.
