Robert Spencer, 88, of Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Holzer Medical Center. He was born on May 20, 1928 in Drift, Kentucky, son of the late Lee and Nannie Daniels Spencer. Bob was married to Joy M. Saunders on August 7, 1954 and she survives him. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Bob was a retired electrician’s foreman for Gallipolis Developmental Center with 33 years of service. He attended Faith Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Joy Spencer of Gallipolis; four children, Carla (Les) Smart of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Melinda Spencer of Mableton, Georgia, Joel (Sophia) Spencer of Columbus, Ohio and Jeremy Spencer of Gallipolis; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Kali, and Kacie Willey, Kyan, Logan and Ian Spencer; two sisters, Lavonda Jeffers of Puyallup, Washington and Velma Coleman of Bidwell; two brothers, Daniel (Ruth) Spencer of Wellston and Lee “Bud” (Dorothy) Spencer of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Joye Seybold and three brothers, John Spencer, Sherwood “Chub” Spencer, and Adrian “Abe” Spencer. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Providence Cemetery with Pastor Jim Chapman officiating.
