Ronald E. Paxton, 62, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Abbyshire, formerly Scenic Hills Nursing Center. He was born February 21, 1948 in Mansfield, Ohio, son of the late Teddy and Evelyn Baker Paxton. He was married to Ollie Barry Paxton and she survives him. Ron was a 1966 graduate of Lexington High School, Lexington, Ohio, a 1970 graduate of The Ohio State University, and a 1975 graduate of The Ohio State University Masters Program. He was a retired teacher and school administrator for the Gallia County Local Schools. Ron was a member of the Gallia County Retired Teachers, State of Ohio Retired Teachers, National Association of Elementary School Principals, Ohio Middle School Administrators Association, National Middle School Administrators Association, American Red Cross Co-Operation Manager of Gallia County, Disaster Volunteer (traveling to over 25 national disasters), National Fenton Glass Society, and Fenton Art Glass Collectors Association. He was a member of New Life Lutheran Church and was very active in New Life Lutheran Church Missions Program having participated in the building of homes in Louisiana and Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Ollie Paxton of Gallipolis; one brother, Gary (Jacki) Paxton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Gloria Jean (James) Popp of Morgantown, Pennsylvania;and two brothers-in-law, Oran (Joyce) Barry of Gallipolis, Jesse (Chunz) Barry of Browns Mills, New Jersey. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at New Life Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Baker officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Willis Funeral Home.
