Samuel R. Long

Samuel R. Long Jr., 61, of Gallipolis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Holzer Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1955 in Gallipolis, son of the late Samuel R. and Margaret J. Claytor Long Sr. Sam was formerly employed at West Virginia Malleable Iron. He was a 1973 graduate of Gallia Academy High School. He was a faithful member of Addison Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed church and reading the Bible. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Cassidy Brooks and Rebecca Lang, both of Gallipolis; two brothers, Larry (Cathy) Long of Gallipolis and Ralph Jones of Middleport; a sister, Ella Hutchins of Toledo; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. Lee and Phillip L. Lee. Services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Addison Freewill Baptist Church.
