Sara "Sally" Bennett

Sara “Sally” Bennett, 87, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 9, 2025. She passed away peacefully at Holzer Assisted Living. Born Sara Katheryn Stewart to Charles Stewart and Ella Reed Stewart on June 27, 1937, she was the youngest of 13 children and the last surviving.

Sally was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church where she had both a musical ministry and taught Sunday school. She worked at the Ohio Valley Bank in the Real Estate Loan Department for over 25 years as a Loan Clerk and took joy in serving others. Sally would often care for relatives and friends who were infirm or recovering from illness. She loved her hometown of Gallipolis and its people.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ralph L. Bennett, Gallipolis, Ohio. She leaves behind two sons, John “Jack” (Natalie) Yeagley, Oak Ridge, North Carolina and Joseph (Kendall) Yeagley, Reno, Nevada; stepdaughters, Beverly (Daniel) Dunkle, Jackie (Tombo) Woodward both of Gallipolis, and Shari (Scott) Haase of Mission Viejo, California. Also left are sisters-in-law, Arlene Bennett of Lancaster, Ohio and Joan Stewart of Xenia, Ohio; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

The Graveside Service for Sally will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Pine Street Cemetery on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with Pastor Jim Lusher officiating. Friends and family may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Willis Funeral Home.
