Sarah Layne

Sarah Layne, 68, of Gallipolis, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Holzer Medical Center. She was born on November 20, 1937 in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Oakley and Maude Walters Day. Sarah was employed as a health worker for the Columbus State Hospital and retired from Gallipolis Developmental Center. Surviving are her daughters, Marilyn Joe Midkiff of Reynolds Station, Kentucky and Sandra Steven Vanco of Gallipolis; a son, Mark Jennifer Layne of Londonderry; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Bud Louise Day of Columbus and Don Vivian Day of Gallipolis; three sisters, Opal Jim Drossis of Cleveland, Dorothy Baird of Gallipolis, and Katie Haught of Marion; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Christina Day and Mary Day and three brothers, Charles Eugene Day, Carl Day and Lee Sheets. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the Willis Funeral Home with Evangelist J.R. Holsinger officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral from 12-2 p.m. prior to the funeral.
