Shawn Cox

Shawn Matthew Cox, 47, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia surrounded by his family.

Born on March 8, 1978 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, Shawn was the son of the late Merrill Freddie and Linda Lou Thompson Cox. Shawn attended Gallia Academy High School and Mina Chapel; he was also a former employee at Wendy's. Shawn enjoyed watching and making TikTok videos and making others smile. He was always one to question things to confirm things were true and was willing to help everyone.

Shawn is survived by his siblings, Michelle "Shelly" Renee Cox of Gallipolis, Kimberly Dawn Cox Prisque Williams of Vinton, Ohio, Christopher Michael (Nelia) Cox of Gallipolis, and Codie Lee Glenn of Wellston, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; lifelong friend, Mike Setliff of Gallipolis; and his furbaby, Meaness. Shawn was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Lou Cox on December 24, 1998; father, Merrill Freddie Cox on February 7, 2010; brother-in-law, David Williams on May 14, 2017; and an unborn great-niece in 2025.

A Memorial Service for Shawn is being planned for later this month, and will be announced at a later date.
