Shirley Maye Wallace

Shirley Maye Wallace, 82, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Holzer Assisted Living.

Born on May 8, 1943 in Houck Hollow, Northup, Ohio, Shirley was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lillian Florence Cremeens Gladman. Shirley graduated from Gallia Academy High School and started her working career as a Medical Secretary at the Old Holzer Hospital in January 1960. She also worked at the Medical Plaza and Hillcrest Surgical Clinic. Shirley’s last employment was at Holzer Clinic, Inc. Since April 10, 1994, Shirley was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for several years. Shirley was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #283 Gallipolis.

On June 6, 1969, Rev. Richard Graham married Shirley and Gary E. Wallace at Bailey Chapel Church. Shirley was preceded in death by Gary on June 19, 1983. In addition to her parents and her husband Gary, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Aldeth Arlene Gladman; brothers, Darrel Ray Gladman, Garrel Eugene Gladman, and Carrel Wayne “Jack” Gladman; stepson, Gary E. Wallace II; step grandson, Gary E. Wallace III; sisters-in-law, Janie Fillinger Gladman and Diane Ours Gladman; and mother-in-law, Agnes Henderson.

Shirley is survived by her son, Chad A. (Rachael) Wallace of Gallipolis; granddaughter, Jenna Nicole Wallace of Gallipolis; grandson, Jacob Matthew Wallace of Gallipolis; step granddaughter, Lindsey Wallace of Sunbury, Ohio; step great grandson, Gavin Elton Wallace of Sunbury; and step great granddaughter, Reagen Janelle Fitzpatrick of Sunbury.

The funeral service for Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Carnes officiating. Her burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends and family may call prior to the service on Tuesday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
