Sonya Swain Cowles

Sonya Swain Cowles, 51, of Crown City, Ohio passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Holzer Medical Center. Born on July 15, 1967 in Gallipolis, Ohio, Sonya was the daughter of Monty Swain, who survives her in Crown City, and Jo Ann Angel Swain, who preceded her in death. Sonya was a 1985 graduate of Hannan Trace High School; she later earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rio Grande. Sonya was a social worker for several local agencies. Sonya is survived by two daughters, Jessica Cowles of Gallipolis and Megan Cowles of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; granddaughter, Nova Cowles; father, Monty Swain of Crown City; maternal grandmother, Audrey Angel of Gallipolis; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special companion, Larry Davis. The funeral service for Sonya will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Carnes officiating. Burial will follow the service in Ridgelawn Cemetery.
