Sylvia J. Van Meter

Sylvia J. Van Meter, 84, of Gallipolis, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. She was born September 1, 1930 in Gallia County, daughter of the late Charles Hill and Maggie Jones Topping. Sylvia was married to Larry A. Van Meter and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2007. She was a social worker for Buckeye Community Services, a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideons International. Surviving are four sons, Gary Allen (Lisa) Day of Port Charlotte, Florida, David Thomas Day of Ft. Myers, Florida, John Lee (Chris) Day of Vincennes, Indiana, James Glen (Tina) Day of Ft. Myers, Florida; 6 grandchilden; 12 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Larry A. Van Meter, Sylvia was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Harrison, Jessie Mae Waugh, and a brother John Hill. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alex Colon officiating. Friends may call from 12 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
