Ursula S. Beard

Ursula S. Beard, 80, of Gallipolis passed away on Friday, March 10, 2006 at Holzer Senior Care in Gallipolis. Ursula was born on June 25, 1925 in Baumholder, Germany to the late Ernst Spaeth and Amalie Kuhn Spaeth. She married William C. Beard on July 2, 1960 in Trier, Germany and he survives in Gallipolis, Ohio. She was a member of the Evangelisch Church in Germany, and had worked for the Postal Service in Germany in the Radio Communications Department. Ursula also worked in Chemical Abstracts at Ohio State University while her husband attended Graduate School and for twenty-five years she was a volunteer swimming instructor in Lakewood, Ohio YMCA teaching people to swim from six months in age to seventy years. Ursula is survived by her husband William C. Beard; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Karen Beard, Alice and Joe Giles all of Gallipolis, Nancy and Asa Bailey of Mansfield, Ohio, and Jim and Rita Beard of St. Petersburg, Florida; 10 nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and by a sister and by her parents. Graveside services will be held later at the Ohio Valley Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family.
