Vaughn L. French, 67, affectionately known as Frenchy or Vonnie, of the Addison community, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. He was born September 16, 1943 in Fresno, California, son of the late Vaughn Jasper and Dorothy Lawson French. Vaughn was married to Kathy White Sands, who survives him. He worked at Ohio Valley Foodland and was a disabled Vietnam veteran. Vaughn was a decorated Sergeant of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam conflict. His awards were the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Good Conduct Medal, and the Badge for Marksmanship for the M14 Rifle. He was a member of Shriners International Aladdin Temple, Columbus, Ohio, was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Harley Owners Group (HOG), AmVets Life Member, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite (Valley of Columbus) Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, The Grand Lodge of F. A.M. of Ohio, Bellville Lodge No. 0376, and Life Member of Valley of Columbus, AASR, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, USA. Surviving are his wife, Kathy French of Cheshire; his son, Mark (Angie) Burns and their children, Madison and Garrett of Gallipolis; his sister and brother-in-law, Carlene and Jerry Bradley of Gallipolis, special relatives Linda Lear of Bidwell and Brianna Byus of Gallipolis; and a host of family and friends. Full military graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Campaign Cemetery with Pastor Robert Thompson assisting the family.
