Velma May Henry Houck

Velma May Henry Houck, age 84, passed away November 15, 2006 at Wexner Heritage House in Columbus. Born in Crown City on August 3, 1922 to the late Jesse and Irene Johnson, she lived most of her life in Gallipolis, later moving to Columbus. A graduate of Gallia Academy High School, she attended Rio Grande College and retired from Gallipolis State Institute with 42 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, James M. Henry and Roscoe Houck and son-in-law, Kessler Adkins. Velma is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Adkins of Pickerington, her son, James Russell Henry of Westerville, granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Adkins, and great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Andrew James, her brother, Otis Luella Johnson of Gallipolis, her sister, Bette James Lozier of Pickerington, and special friend Thelma Sis Thivener of Gallipolis. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service.
