Virginia “Ginny” Lee Killin, 84, of Gallipolis, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Arbors of Gallipolis. She was born December 4, 1927 in Ironton, Ohio, daughter of the late Edward B. and Maude L. Smith Killin. She was a graduate of Ironton High School Class of 1945 and the School of Nursing at Kings Daughters Hospital, Ashland, Kentucky. She attended Marshall University, Western State College and Cincinnati General Hospital School of Anesthesia. Ginny was in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp from December, 1950 to November, 1953. She was an operating room nurse at Percy Jones Army Hospital, Battle Creek, Michigan. She received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Ginny had been employed at Holzer Hospital/Medical Center, Meigs County Health Department and the Gallipolis City Health Department, the Gallipolis Developmental Center, the Area Agency on Aging – District #7, and the Gallia County Council on Aging. Surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Steorts of Ironton, Ohio and Elsie A. and Ronald Justice of Fairborn, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald and Jack Killin, a sister Ruth Killin and a long time friend Bette Wilson in 2003. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, Ohio with Pastor Ronald Justice officiating. There will be military graveside services by VFW Lodge 8850.
