Warner Edward "Ed" Cox, 80, of Gallipolis, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at his residence.
Born on January 10, 1946 in Addison, Ohio, Ed was the son of the late Floyd D. and Claris A. Halley Cox. Ed married Marlinda "Marty Rae" Boden Cox who preceded him in death on June 27, 2011. Ed served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. In 1995, he retired as a TPW from Gallipolis Developmental Center. Ed was a member of the Potters Wheel Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed Westerns and horses; and Ed loved God, his family, and his church. Ed had a deep respect for service to his country.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Sara (Doug) Baker of Gallipolis; son, Brian (Virginia) Cox of Ironton, Ohio; daughter, Sherry (Jeff) Seagraves of Oak Hill, Ohio; and son, Zane McIntyre of Akron, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Brittany, Teira, Kristen, Mikey, Hunter, Cory, Michael, Kalynn, Krystal, Kaylea, and Samantha; ten great-grandchildren; two grand fur babies, Bo and Sassy; sisters, Alice Bing of Gallipolis, Luella Hazelbaker of Gallipolis, and Charles (Margie) Cox of Gallipolis, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Ray Cox; daughter, Misty McIntyre, four brothers, Hayward Cox, Floyd "Bub" Cox, Merrill "Freddie" Cox, and Allen "Roe" Cox; and three sisters, Wilmadine "Grace" Reel, Evelyn Wright, and Elsie Pauline Cox.
The funeral service for Ed will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Nibert officiating. Burial will follow in Mina Chapel Cemetery. Military services will be provided by the Gallia County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the funeral home.
