William "Bill" Fredrick Cummons

William “Bill” Fredrick Cummons, 77, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 22, 1936 in Lecta, Ohio, son of the late William Henry and Bessie Virginia Sprouse Cummons. Bill was married to Sharon Ross Cummons and she survives him. He was retired as a machinist and had worked at Jaeger Machine Company and Midland Ross Janitrol in Columbus, Ohio. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bill enjoyed hunting and nature. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Sharon Cummons of Hilliard, Ohio; his children, Sherry (Mike Kreis) Cummons and David Cummons of Hilliard and Carol (Jerry) Hill Jr. of Plain City; grandchildren, Ashley (Joshua) Honaker of Marysville, Tim Hill of Plain City, Eli (Miranda) Cummons of Johnstown, Leah and Kayla Cummons of Columbus, Jason Hill of Plain City; great grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Alexis, all of Marysville, Brian of Columbus, McKenzie and Hanna of Johnstown, Juliana of Columbus; four brothers, Bob A. Cummons of Thurman, Tommy H. (Geraldine) Cummons, Danny L. (Shirley) Cummons, and Kenny R. Cummons, all of Gallipolis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Larry) Grimmette and Richard (Jeanie) Ross; several nieces and nephews; aunts, Betty Saunders, Marie Wells, Mary Whitt, Bonnie Kemper, Barbara Miller, and Sally Waugh; also his pet dog, Blackie. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Henry Arthur “Blackie” and Anna Bell Cummons, maternal grandparents Timothy Blair and Sarah Katherine Sprouse, in laws Homer and Josephine Ross, sisters-in-law Dixie Henderick and Nellie J. Cummons, brothers-in-law Robert, Billy Gene, Larry Ross, John C. Barry and Art Henderson. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Lusher officiating. Burial will follow in Sanders #2 Cemetery, Lawrence County, Ohio. Friends may call on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Eli Cummons, Timothy Hill, Jason Hill, Mark Cummons, Jerry Cummons, and Ryan Cummons.
