Darrell L. Canaday, age 81, of Patriot, Ohio finished his work here on earth July 17, 2017, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a life-long farmer who loved the land, the woods, hunting, fishing, and just enjoying God’s creation. He was a past member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union and in recent years attended Vinton Baptist Church when he was able. He was born May 25, 1936 in Gallia County, son of Golden R. and Vesta Danner Canaday who preceeded him. He was also preceeded by his daughter Kelly Elaine Canaday, son in law James A. “Jamie” Montgomery, brothers Bob Canaday, Larry Canaday, Wayne Canaday and his sister in law Betty Canaday. Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Alma Birchfield Canaday of Patriot, his daughter and son in law, Laura Montgomery-Lewis and Eddie Lewis of Patriot, grandson DJ Montgomery and wife Rhonda of Patriot, Wes Montgomery and wife Tabby of Vinton, step grandson Cody Lewis of Pt. Pleasant, WV, great- grandsons Jamie and Aengus Montgomery of Patriot, great granddaughter Shannon Montgomery of Vinton, and step great-granddaughter Kaylee Burgett of Vinton, sister Dorothy Madison of Akron, OH, brother Carroll Canaday, wife Lucille Canaday of Gallipolis, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Leland Allman and Pastor Heath Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens.
