Emmette Hopkins Dyer, 64, of Patriot, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at his residence. He was born on January 30, 1942 in Wayne, West Virginia to the late Robert Dyer and Myrtle Frazier Dyer, who survives him. He was married to Linda Legg Dyer for 45 years. Emmette was co-owner of Dyer Brothers Lumber Company in Northup, Ohio. He was highly active at South Gallia High School. He was an assistant coach to both the golf and baseball teams. Emmette was an avid fisherman and golfer. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Church. He knew no strangers and was loved by all. Emmette is survived by his wife, Linda Dyer of Patriot; a son, Jeff Dyer and special friend, Misty Rhodes of Patriot; a daughter, Stephanie Tony Harrison of Patriot; three grandsons, Christopher Gwenda Dyer, Brody Green and Justin Rhodes; two granddaughters, Brittany Green Keller and Megan Dyer; a great grandson, Gage Lee Dyer; a great grandson to be, Logan Reed Keller; his mother, Myrtle Frazier Dyer of Proctorville; a brother, Elmer Emma Dyer of Patriot; a sister, Nola Jennings Adkins of Proctorville; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Legg of Proctorville; sisters-in-law, Katy Gary Legg Simpson and Donna Legg Bowen, both of Proctorville; brothers-in-law, Greg Vicki Legg of Proctorville and Buddy Legg of Huntington, WV; several nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews; a special friend, Kenny Carolyn Brown and family of Ashland, OH, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dyer, a brother, Kenneth Dyer, a nephew, Levi Condee, two nieces, Chrystal Simpson, Summer Simpson and his father-in-law, Homer Legg. Services will on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth Chapel Church with Pastor Alfred Holley and Gordon Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio.
